Jaroslav Prošek

Jaroslav Prošek is a master of modern Czech glass sculpture, working from Česká Lípa in Northern Bohemia—the very heart of the Czech Republic’s centuries-old glassmaking tradition.

Based in the historic town of Beroun, Prošek specialises in creating unique, fine art glass sculptures, while also exploring the aesthetic possibilities of mixed media including wood, marble, and stainless steel.

His journey into the world of glass began after secondary school, where he first entered the technical side of the glass industry. Working in large Czech glass factories, he developed a deep understanding of material design, structure, and refinement.

This technical mastery evolved into true artistic expression when Prošek began his atelier training under two of the greatest Czech glass artists: Vlastimil Beránek and Jan Frydrych.

In 2010, he began creating his own works using optical and crystal glass. Each piece is a fusion of technical precision and artistic soul—highly polished, meticulously ground, and engraved using a diverse range of traditional and innovative techniques.

Prošek’s works have earned him international acclaim. Most recently, Prošek completed the world’s largest chandelier—an awe-inspiring centrepiece for Riyadh’s newest luxury lifestyle and retail destination.

He was voted among the Top 100 Artists of Europe by the Michelangelo Foundation, and in 2019, he was selected to design the prestigious Blue Ocean Award trophy, honouring businesses that embody innovation and visionary strategy.

His art is deeply influenced by the sea—its fluidity, mystery, and shifting light. With each piece, Jaroslav Prošek invites viewers into a world where light dances on glass, and nature meets timeless design.
